Summer Vacation

Tips

Some people like to choose vacation spots that are a short drive from home, while others like to take longer drives. Long drives can be more enjoyable with proper planning. By packing snacks, you can ensure that you save money and provide healthy food for your kids during your trip. You can make your own trail mix and even take snack bags of freshly cut raw veggies for the kids to eat along the way. Little kids will enjoy having small snack bags of their own.

If you are renting a condo, you’ll need food for the kitchen once you get there. I like to bring dry ingredients for cookies, pancakes, etc with me. I save money and it’s less shopping to do when I arrive. Then I buy the wet ingredients like eggs when I arrive.

Another option is to have food catered to the condo. While this may cost a bit more than cooking, it still saves money over eating out every day.

Many local restaurants will have lunch specials, so if you want to go out for just one meal a day, consider making it lunch. You could even get extra lunch specials to go and save them in the condo’s refrigerator until dinner! If you are on a budget, try to avoid having to buy drinks at gas stations, where they are sure to be expensive. Instead, bring a cooler with water, juice, and anything else you’ll want to drink.

If you follow these tips, you’ll save money on your next getaway. In addition to saving money, you may just find your next trip logistically easier, as you won’t be dependent on stopping for food so much!
