The simple fact for some people is you can’t afford a holiday not even a simple caravan or camping trip somewhere never mind going abroad, however if you are a little clever it can really help and you may just be able to. If you have any family who are some distance away and would be willing to put you and the family up for a few days, even if your accommodation is a tent, this is still some kind of holiday and of course simplt return the favour to your family members in a few months or next year.
For children, the stimulation of a new environment is as much of a holiday as going abroad, just do your research before you arrive and look for any free festivals or exhibitions to take advantage of. Also check out local parks and cheaper things like swimming baths as this is a holiday on a real shoe string. Anything you don’t have already, simply ask friend or family if you can borrow a tent, luggage or roof rack.
Those who would usually go abroad but have decided to stay in the UK, just think about location, how much travel would you be prepared to do, what setting would you prefer and always set yourself a budget.
The British B&B is an institution because they will be cheaper depending on the quality of the place you wish to visit. As always price is driven by the area of Britain you wish to see, the more popular the spot the more expensive the B&B. The Lake District is always a popular place of natural beauty along with Exmoor, Snowdonia, and most of Scotland’s countryside.
Just plan your journeys and check what local attractions you would be interested in seeing before taking the decision to book. Do lots of research and make sure the facilities accommodate whatever you and your family have in mind and of course your budget.
